My Reflection
Going into this semester, I didn't know what English 102 was going to be like. I didn't know if it was going to incorporate stuff that we learned in English 101 or if it was going to be completely different. But at the end of the semester, I really learned a lot about myself during this semester of English. I can say that this class in general really helped me with my writing and thinking skills throughout the semester with different classes that I took.
There was definitely a few changes that I noticed in my writing during this semester. One of the things that I noticed in my writing was that I was able to have strong ideas in my papers and publish writings and was able to back up ideas with strong concrete examples to back up those ideas I had. The second thing that I noticed was I was able to have a flow with both my papers and my publish writings and not have the examples and ideas all over the place. On the other hand, I have made some improvements as a thinker and as a writer. By having the workshops in the class and getting different ideas from different people really helped my getting ideas for the class and also helped with getting examples for my writing assignments.
This class had a ton of things going on like doing the publish writings on the blog, preparing for fishbowls, lectures, doing papers, and having workshops with groups and having presentations to do for the class, but there was one thing was probably my favorite thing in the class and that was the fishbowls that we had. These fishbowls were very helpful and very interesting to hear different thoughts and ideas from different scholars. With what I learned this past semester, I can definitely see myself using some of the ideas I had from this class and incorporate these in other classes.

My Favorite Lectures
Throughout the semester, we had a plethora of lectures that were very helpful and intriguing. With many options to choose from, one of the lectures that enjoyed was "What Does It Mean.. To Be... ? lecture. This lecture that we had was about what does it mean to be broken and whole and trying to get different meanings on what it means to be whole and broken. The reason why this was one of my favorite lectures was you were able to hear people come up with their own ideas on what it means to be whole and broken which was very interesting to me.
The second favorite lecture that we did during the semester was the desire lecture. This was one of my favorite lectures that we did throughout the semester for a few reasons. First off, this lecture really put a ton of things in perspective between the things that are needs and wants. Some of the things that I thought needs in your life turned out to be wants like religion, marriage, and formal education. When we finished this lecture that day, it definitely got me thinking of what we actually need in our lives compared to what we want.
My third and final lecture that really interested me was the literary time period lecture. This lecture was about how certain time periods throughout history, there was certain types of writing that were created and written. It was very interesting to me how many different authors wrote about stuff before the post modern era. These authors wrote about anything from imagination, nature and spirit, and the American dream. Personally I have no clue how these authors were able to write about stuff not from the post modern society that we live in today.
